About

Civis is the Latin word for Citizen, or a member of the state. I am a citizen of the United States, and this blog is written from the perspective of one citizen to another. It is my internal commentary on the nation, the state, society and the culture. I try to look beyond the immediate and too the future, and to consider the long range impacts of what we do and say, applying logic and understanding to all situations as possible.

Personally, I am an 20-year-old college sophomore, a homeschool graduate, a Christian, usually a Republican, and the oldest of six children. In short, a member of the vast right wing religious evangelical conspiracy. That is at least where my background would place me, and in general, it’s pretty accurate (labels exist for a reason). My politics are shaped by my background, but also by listening and thinking to what others have to say—which is the mission of this blog: to promote and participate in the conversation with fellow cives [plural citizens]. I hope it works.
